|There are two common styles of MIL-W-5086: MIL-W-5086 Type I and MIL-W-5086 Type II. MIL-W-5086 Type I is an unshielded aircraft wire. The MIL-Spec wire is constructed of a stranded tinned copper conductor, white polyvinylchloride insulation and a clear nylon outer jacket. The MIL-Spec wire may be used in electronic or electrical applications.
MIL-W-5086 Type II is also an unshielded aircraft wire. Guage sizes 22 AWG through 12 AWG are constructed of stranded tinned copper conductor with a white PVC insulation and a white glass yarn braid. The MIL-Spec wire has a clear nylon outer jacket. Gauge sizes 10 AWG through 4/0 AWG are constructed of stranded tinned copper conductor with a white PVC insulation and a white glass yarn braid. The wire has a flame retardant nylon lacquered glass with yarn braid overall. MIL-W-5086 Type II may be used as airframe wire at temperatures within the range of -55ºC to +105 ºC. The MIL-Spec wire has a voltage rating of 600 volts.
Both MIL-W-5086 Type I and MIL-W-5086 Type II are resistant to water, aircraft fuels, hydraulic fluids, oils, skydrol, dilute acids, ethyleneglycol, alkalis, alcohol, fungus, and abrasion. The MIL-Spec wires may be used in any application where it may be exposed to abrasion, high impact loads, or chemical abuse.
|MIL-W-16878 is a commonly requested military specification for a wire. MIL-W-16878 Hook Up Wire comes in three types MIL-W-16878/1 Type B, MIL-W-16878/2 Type C, and MIL-W-16878/3 Type D. MIL-W-16878/1 Type B is made of Stranded Tinned Copper with PVC Insulation. The MIL-Spec wire has a temperature rating of -55ºC to +105 ºC and has a voltage rating of 600 Volts. MIL-W-16878/1 works well for the internal wiring of electronic equipment and may meet UL 1061.
MIL-W-16878/2 Type C has the same features as Type B, but with a voltage rating of 1000 Volts. MIL-W-16878/2 Type C works well for the internal wiring of meters, panels, and electronic equipment and may meet UL 1007 or UL 1569. MIL-W-16878/3 Type D also has the same features as Type B and Type C, but with a voltage rating of 3000 Volts. It also works well for the internal wiring of meters, panels, and electronic equipment and may meet UL 1011 or UL 1013.
|There are three types of MIL-W-16878 Hook Up Cable: MIL-W-16878/4 Type E, MIL-W-16878/5 Type EE, MIL-W-16878/6 Type ET. MIL-W-16878/4 Type E (also known as NEMA HP-3 Type E) may be UL 1213 listed. The MIL-W-16878/4 MIL-Spec wire is stranded silver plated copper, with a temperature rating of -60ºC to +200 ºC and a voltage rating of 600 Volts. It is a shielded and jacketed cable. Type EE (also known as NEMA HP-3 Type EE) also possesses the above characteristics, but with a voltage rating of 1000 Volts. MIL-W-16878/6 Type ET (also known as NEMA HP-3 Type ET) is also the same, but with a voltage rating of 250 Volts.
The PFTE insulation on the cables offers high reliability with exceptional thermal stability and chemical resistance. MIL-W-16878 hook up wires are good for high temperature applications.
|MIL-W-16878D Shielded PTFE Cables come in many different styles such as PTFE With Shield No Jacket, PTFE Tape Wrap Overall, Extruded FEP Jacket Over Shield, PTFE Impregnated Braid Overall. Each conductor of the MIL-W-16878D Cables is stranded silver plated copper. The cables have a braided silver plated copper shield. They possess a voltage rating of 600 Volts and an operating temperature of -65ºC to +200 ºC. MIL-W-16878D Shielded PTFE Cables are resistant to acids, alkalis, oil, flame, moisture, solvents and fungus.|
|QQ-W-343 is another federal specification for electrical wire. QQ-W-343 wire is usually offered in two varieties: Tinnned Copper Buss Bar QQ-W-343 and Extra Flexible Copper Rope QQ-W-343 ASTM-B-33. QQ-W-343 may be used for winding of coils, antennas, point to point wiring, and ground wire.|
